Dawson milestones

Dawsons first smiles were at 7 weeks!  PRECIOUS!  Absolutely melt my heart.

He has packed on the pounds as well!  at his 4 week appointment he was 9lb 1 oz.  Took him to dr this week, at about 7.5 weeks and he was 11 lbs 2 ounces!  In a week is his official 2 month appointment.

He is becoming less fussy as well.

Pumpkins and Brady

We decorated for fall yesterday. Last year the deer took bites out of our pumpkins! We had them out in the yard by the light pole. So this year we put them on the deck.

At bed time brady was over tired and balling that the deer would eat them. I rattled off reasons they would not, on deck... Deer don't like to walk on hard side walk.... House smells like us.... None of that worked. He quit crying and said that deer were scared of the ghosts we decorated with. Rolled over and went to sleep. Duh!

Dawson's Birth Story

Dawson's due date was 8-27-12, we had a scheduled c-section on 8-20-12.

On Thursday, 8-9-12, while at work I noticed contractions.  Not painful, but noticed them.  They started in the afternoon, but I was too busy to really think about them or time them.  At 4pm I had an appointment with my OB/Gyn doctor for my 37 week routine appointment.  So I timed my contractions on the 50 minute trip to the appointment- they were between 6 and 9 minutes apart.  At the doctor's office they checked my cervix and I was dialated 2cm's and 50% effaced.  They hooked me up to monitors for a while and confirmed I was having light contractions abut 9 minutes apart.  They sent me home, and told me if I rest and they go away it is not labor.  If they continued it was labor.  We lined up help for during the night in case I had to go in.

Contractions continued until about 2am, I was able to sleep thru them a bit.  I went to work the next day, I was not prepared for leaving work for a couple months!  Around 9am the contactions started again.  They became more noticible but stayed about 9 minutes apart.  By 11 I knew I should be calling it a day, I was worried my water would break at work.  I went home, laid down and napped for an hour or more.  Woke and started timing them again, they were closer to 8 minutes apart.

At this point in time, I still didn't think this was the real deal.  They were not painful or really getting any closer together.

Chris lined up meeting my mom in Neillsville to drop off the boys to spend the weekend with her and my sister.  This was about 1.25 hours away, but closer to the hospital.  I went with, and we took our hospital bags along.  I timed contractions all the way there using this cool App on the IPod.  They were getting closer and closer.  As we approached our meeting place they began to hurt and I started to get a little worried and think that this was a stupid idea to be driving all over the place (and road construction all around).  I had to hide all this from the boys, who had no idea that we might be welcoming the baby really soon!

After the boys were safetly with Grandma, we headed to the hospital which was only 20 minutes away- whew!  I felt a little better.  We got there about 5pm, got checked in and waited an hour for the dr to check me out.  They confirmed that it was contractions on the monitor and baby was doing well.  I was at 3.5cm and 75% effaced, she said it was time to have the baby!  We were both sort of surprised that this was the real deal.

(It figured, that the one time I actually went into a nice labor on my OWN, I would have to have a c-section!  Oh well!)

By 7 I was in the OR, got the spinal, which I was in real pain and wanted ASAP.  Before delivering the baby they tied my tubes- everything aligned nicely to get this done- unlike the mirena/implanon fiasco!  In no time the doctor announced that the baby was going to be delivered and he was out!

The procedure went really well, it was my easiest c-section out of the 3.  They did have a small problem at the end... when they were counting tools and 1 was missing.  X-Ray had to come in and make sure it wasnt in me, thier first x-ray was of my chest- they had to come back and do the proper area.  This took an extra 45 minutes and I was starting to defrost- thank goodness it wasnt in me or else I would have needed to been knocked out for them to retrieve it.

Daddy was with the baby all this time, he was very content and perfect.  He was 6lb, 11 oz and 19" long  He was born at 37 weeks and 4 days.  We named him Dawson Donald.

Once I got back with baby (nearly 2 hours later), we attempting nursing which is never a breeze when you are still numb and have all sorts of stuff hooked up to you.  But it went OK.  While in the hospital Dawson did very well, he was very quiet, never cried and had to be woken to nurse.  We went home on the 14th.

here we go, #3!

This has changed!  Wow, just about need a tutorinantal since the last time I was here to get thru all the changes!  But, that is how I am with facebook these days too.

My life has been interesting, and has routed in a different direction then I had intended.  I thought I was done with having kids at 2.  We took precautions, it is not 'user error'.  Around Christmas I noticed that I had been feel nauseated daily for more then a few days in a row.  Finally on Dec. 31 the thought occured to me that I felt pregnant.  The next day I got the nerve to go buy a test, and sure enough it was +.

I was using Implanon, supposedly more effect then the pill, about the same as IUD, and the next best thing to sterilization.

This thru me for a curve.  I am not going to sugar coat it, I was not happy.  When I let myself actually go thru the feelings I was supressing - the best way to sum it up, was that my identity was gone.  It took time, but I am confident now that I am happy about this and finally bonding with the baby.

So- the shortened version of the last 6 months:  20 weeks of nausea.  Thank goodness for Zofran!  Parker tells people when they cough "mommy, cough, potty", most people dont get it.  We found out that it is BOY number 3!  The top name is Spider Man, selected by Brayden.  I will be having c-section #3, the first 2 were not planning.  This one I have no choice.  Due date is 8-27, but looking at 8-20 for delivery.

I didnt drop off the face of the earth!

Life has drastically changed for the better! I have more time, but you wouldnt think so because I am not blogging like I would like to.

I am firmly planted in my new career. This is tremendously for the better for me and my family. The hours I work are 'normal' and I dont think I could ever go back to working weekends again! Granted I do miss chatting with people about plants, but talking to educators each day is awesome too. My new job suits me well, it is a great match for my personality.

It feels like I have become 'ME' again. :)

What is a post without something on the boys? B is 3.5 and has such a good personality. He is caring and concerned, and a sponge! We have enrolled him in 3K. P is 20 months. He was SO easy as a baby, and things have flipped. Time outs are abundant, and he is noisy! His vocabulary is expanding.

A couple weeks ago, B was crying because he thought Parker was calling him a baby. When we slowed down and listed, he is saying Brady! B just loved that!

life

We stay busy, that is for sure. Seems like we are hopping from flu bug to cold, strep throat to flu bug, over and over. It has been a long winter!

PArker is doing very well with the addition of his ear tubes. And Brady is nearly potty trained! (my toilet will never be the same)

Chris is busy in his woodshop trying to stay on top of all his projects.

I havent scrapbooked yet this winter, and it is killing me!

updates!

over the weekend we celebrated both of the little boy's birthdays! The boys both enjoyed it I think.
Last night parker fell and (over nothing, and just walking!) eye landed on book. I took him to ER because I was quite concerned about his eye and the cut on the bottom. (the lower pict, you can really see the u shaped cut well). Long story short, P is tough. It took 3 of us to hold him down just to examine his eye. I wont tell you about getting the rectal temp! whoa. Doc said he technically should get a stich or glue in that lower lid cut (eye ball is fine) but to do that w.out sedation would be impossible. I agreed. And to sedate for this wsant worth it. I agreed. Unfortunatly, by not doing a stich the scar will probably be bigger and take longer to heal. But it was the right decision.

soap.com

Oh, I have discovered and fallen in love with Soap.com and diapers.com. Mostly soap.com because I love Target brand diapers. :) It is fabulous for busy people! I love it because I can place my orders on my lunch break, get free shipping, and it ships to my house in just 2 days. Seriously, if you are like me and have a hard time getting to the store- this is fabulous. The prices are very compariable to going to the box stores, sometimes even better because they have sales and coupons.

If you are going to try them out, either soap.com or diapers.com use the referal code crankid and you will get 15% off your first purchase and I will get $$$ for refering you.

Honestly, give it a try!!!

I mean really, is all this chaos in life worth it? GO GO GO. Dont forget this, or that. Pay this bill. File that here. Eat healthy? not really when so many meals are in the car. Enjoy the little things? right.

And dont tell me that is just how life is, because I think it's bs.

Parker at 9 months old

My little peanut had his 9month checkup today. He is 18 lb and 15oz. 25th percentile for weight. 29" long, 75th percentile. He is right where he should be on everything!

Parker has 1 tooth almost in, and 1 just below the surface.
PArker claps when you say YAY! very cute.
He is a professional at army crawling, and he is fast!
He is content and happy most of the time.
Parker usually wakes 1 time a night, and prefers to keep his naps to a slight schedule.
He loves playing with his big brother and following him around the house.
Parker loves to be spoon fed! likes almost everything. He opens so wide it looks like it hurts!
When he gets picked up he usually pats your shoulder.
Parker likes to hug back!

I couldnt imagine my life without my little Parker. :)

Summer Pictures

Look at that dedication to helping his daddy prepare beans. Or is it frustration trying to cut bean ends with a non-serated butter knife?

Somebody loves watermelon! He has been eating so much he has this permanate watermelon smell to him.

One of B's favorite things to do outside is water Mama's flowers! That is my new bed installed this year!

We took Brayden on a train ride in Spooner. Here, Brayden heard the horn! SO EXCITING!

Parker enjoying the train ride!

safer for us

I have slept with my babies in my bed numerous times, and I have zonked out in my rocking chair with them numerous times too. For me, I think it is way safer for me to put them in my bed with me and here is why.

When I am exhausted and baby isnt sleeping due to ear infection or something like that, and I wanna lay down, we co sleep. First we go to our own bed, without brother or daddy. I put a pillow behind me and I lean back of that so I can safely sleep and nurse. A pillow goes behind babe to so he doesnt roll away. We go in the middle of a big bed, and we dont use blankets. Not once have I had any sort of "close call" of hurting my baby. Seriously, never. With both my boys.

When I fall asleep holding my babies in my rocking chair....... I wont disclose how many times I have dropped them, or have woken up with them in weird positions unsafe positions.
